NOTE: This course is an ACLS Renewal. You must hold a CURRENT American Heart Association ACLS certification. If you have an expired AHA ACLS card or you are taking this for the first time, you need to take the ACLS Initial Course. 

You will learn:

  • Key changes in advanced cardiovascular life support, reflecting the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care
  • Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device and use of an (AED)
  • Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
  • Airway management
  • Related pharmacology
  • Management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke
  • Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team
  • Effective Resuscitation Team Dynamics

 

Course Fee: $130 

Course Length: 5-6 hours

Course Requirements: You must hold a current ACLS.  You must also complete the Pre-Course Work (see below).

Course Materials: All students are required to have a current AHA ACLS Provider student manual (workbook) during the class day.  IF a student arrives at class without a student manual (workbook), they will be required to purchase one for the course or will be rescheduled to a later course.  The ACLS Provider Manual is REQUIRED. You can purchase your own here or borrow one from a friend, workplace, etc. Students are highly encouraged to review the entire ACLS Provider Manual before class.

Pre-Course Work:

  • You must complete this online Pre-Course Self Assessment Work
  • Visit the following website: https://elearning.heart.org/course/423
  • Create an AHA account OR login to your AHA account and Complete the Pre-Course Self Assessment.  You need a passing grade or 70%. This may require you to take this pre-course assessment several times.

NEED YOUR BLS?
BLS RENEWAL OPTION - Have a Current (non-expired) BLS Certification and want to renew your BLS? You can renew your BLS Certification at the same time as your ACLS class. This option is only for those that have a current (non-expired) BLS certification from American Heart Association. Just be prepared to stay another 30 minutes after your ACLS course. You will walk away with your ACLS and BLS certifications from American Heart Association.

BLS HEARTCODE BLENDED OPTION - BLS First Timer? Certification Expired? You can get your BLS certification on the same day. This option is only for those that do not have a current BLS certification, either it is your first time taking BLS or your BLS certification has expired. You will be issued a BLS Heartcode online module course key. You will need to complete this module before your ACLS class and bring your certification of completion with you on the day of your ACLS training. You will walk away with your ACLS and BLS certification from American Heart Association.
